Orbetello
The city rises on a peninsula encircled by a lagoon and joins the Argentario promontory with an artificial dike. The lagoon is delimited on the east side (Levante lagoon) by the Feniglia's Tombolo and on the west side (Ponente lagoon) by the Giannella's Tombolo, two stripes of land formed by rivers detritus. The tombolo's vegetation is characterized by the Mediterranean spot and many species of animals, one among these is the pink flamingo.
It's a damp zone of international interest with environment conditions suitable for many migratory birds break. Today Orbetello is also an important touristic place that offers visitors : natural beauties, archaeological attractions, handicraft , gastronomical traditions and bathing holidays of high level.
