Vulci
On an immense limestone platform, of approximately 100 hectares, srteching on the Fiora river, you find the ruins of Vulci one of the greatest cities of the Etruria. The most evocative monument in the area is the huge " Rainbow bridge" (1 sec. a.C.),that crosses (30 mt. of height) the Fiora river, near the Abbey medieval castle (XIII sec). All around the city, you find the immense necropolis (Cavalupo, Broken Bridge, Polledrara, Tavern, Field of May, Camposcala), with thousands of graves (IX - I sec a.C.) of various shapes: graves, tumulus, Cassone, Chamber and Corridoio graves. In Broken Bridge area there is the tumulus of Cuccumella (high l8 mt. and 65 mt. of diameter), the Cuccumelletta and the Round one, and nearby there are the François, the Taurus, the Registrations and the Two Incomes graves. By the country house of the Tavern it is possible to see many Chamber graves with the ceiling carved as the wooden structures of the Etruscan houses. Really interesting is the archaeological Museum of the Abbey Castle ,that covers a period of time from 2500 till the 1 sec a.C., with the richest equipment of the Panatenaica grave : Etruscan and Greek ceramics, bronzes, sarcophagi, votive offering and architectonic elements of temples and grave.
